HOMEMADE NON-TOXIC, INEXPENSIVE PAINT FOR KIDS

I have been trying for weeks to find a paint recipe that actually does what I want it to without being too gritty or lumpy. So after researching several paint recipes, I found (through experimenting) an awesome recipe for homemade, non-toxic paint for kids. It can also be stored for a week or two. This can be used as acrylic, tempra, or finger paints depending on thick or thin you make your mixture.

1/4 Cup Cornstarch
1/4 Cup Bleached Flour
Boiling Water (up to 2 Cups)
Gel Food Coloring (do not use the liquid form - it only separates from the mixture when it settles)

Whisk together the cornstarch and flour until well blended.

Gradually stir (with a plastic spoon) the boiling water (1/2 cup at a time) until you reach your desired consistency.

You may want to blend your mix to remove any clumps.

Pull out your desired amount for your project.

Add 1/8 tsp of gel food coloring or until you get the desired color. Do not add more than 1/2 tsp.

And there you have it.

It dries quickly. It's smooth and can be very colorful. Most importantly IT'S NON-TOXIC and INEXPENSIVE!!!!

Recycle baby food jars to hold your newly created paint in.
